a Fresh Start!

As you may have noticed, we've got a fresh look and a fresh sub-domain here at Scribbles, ready to get all the development goodies on whatever is coming down the pike from Josie (Pheenie!) and Mark these days.
Right now we're working on a screenplay, but we've also got two joint novels and three independant ones on the burner as well! Keep checking here for updates.
Also, at Misadventures! there are updates to an all new story by Josie & Tim. Check it out!

New Project

I know I've called this the novel blog in the past, but no novel has ever come out of the junk I posted. Its really... a waste of cyberspace. However, I'm hoping all that will change shortly. I'm going to be setting Mark up with an account as well, so we can keep a record of our efforts on this new project (see title).
In other news, I've picked up Whoreson again - did I ever mention it? But now I've got three other things burning holes in my brain. More to come. Promise!

Working Title, TSA:Blood

((Okay, check this... teensy snippet from something you may remember began as The Mauve Empress))

Shadows shifted silently as the torchlight filtered across the floor. The boy whimpered only once, terror strangling him, and he trembled beside her. One arm draped protectively across his shoulders as they huddled together beneath a heavy oak table. In her other she clutched their only weapon, an antique dagger. It was serrated in the old style and had a graceful curve that belied its deadly edge. Twin amethysts were set into the pommel and they sparkled as the dim light moved.
"Courage," Lisvet whispered, as much for the boy's benefit as her own.
Her blood turned to ice in her veins as the chamber door creaked open at last. Shaking fingers stroked his pale hair tenderly, buth both child and woman caught their breathe in their chest as three sets of thick-soled boots came to a halt nearby.
The gauzy lace edging of the tableskirt limited her sight as the three men quickly searched the room. Each instant seemed an hour and sweat dripped uncomfortably down her back. Nay, Lisvet, no fear. Have courage, she told herself, closing her eyes and pulling the blade a fraction closer to her chest. There's naught to fear. Be strong. But the chubby little fingers clinging to her skirts were constant reminder of exactly what there was to fear....

The Mauve Empress

No, that's not really what I intend to title this latest project, but I am working insanely hard on a new book. No really, guys, this time I'm serious. I'm about fifty or so pages into it, (longhand so its really like four pages :P) but I think it'll be quite good in the end.
Fantasy, of course, set on a continent ruled over by an Emperor. Their House has ruled for 16 generations now - for better or worse. Two of the characters are pulled from the short story Tim and I began long ago called The Mauve Empress - Sefiro and Lillith. Much has changed and I won't bore you with details that may still change... but I'm excited!
      More to come!

Its Starting Again...

The waves lapped against her legs, pulling her laboriously back into its swift current. It was the sensation of drifting again that woke her. Green eyes the color of new leaves fluttered as she clawed her way up the rocky shore. She coughed, bringing up a bellyful of riverwater, then continued to wretch until her stomach was empty.
She rolled over onto her back and stared up at the sky. It was a clear blue day, and she smiled watching lazy white clouds drift in front of the golden sun. Her eyes were drawn across the horizon and her face contracted in a frown. A second sun? I- Where the fuck am I?
The woman leapt to her feet, cursing aloud. "Oh hellfire! Ike? Ike?!"
There was a groan from somewhere further down shore and she stumbled up the stone-strewn shore, pushing past a driftwood log. He was alive, she noticed, pressing her fingers to his throat. With a grunt, she shoved him onto his side and smacked him on the back roughly. He too vomited riverwater onto the shore and began coughing as he slowly regained consciousness.
      "Kes? Wh-what happened?"
She shook her head, trying as much to clear the fog within as to share her uncertainty. "I don't know..."

((yes, there's an auspicious beginning. Kestrel & Shrike Tyma'wilane))

Delays & Yet, Updated Looks!

Well, nothing new on the old novel. Plenty of new on the latest book - but no updates here. Bad Josie! Still, there's a pretty new layout. So deal.

Updates?

Well, I haven't been updating much at all, as I'm sure you've noticed. I've been preoccupied with actual writing, woo! And of course, playing NWN and trying desperately to hook up with a dear dear fella.
